Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers to the things people actually want to know about solar panels, battery storage, heat pumps, EV chargers, and electrical work in Central Scotland.
What services do you offer?
We design and install Solar PV arrays, battery storage, heat pumps, EV charge-points, and handle general electrical work for homes and businesses.
Which areas do you cover?
Based in Stirling, we work right across the Central Belt—including Bridge of Allan, Dunblane, Falkirk, Linlithgow, Livingston, Perth, Dollar, Auchterarder, Milngavie, Bearsden, plus Edinburgh and Glasgow suburbs. If your town's not listed, just ask—chances are we cover you.
Are you certified and insured?
Yes – we’re MCS‑certified, TrustMark, RECC and OZEV approved, with every install backed by an independent workmanship warranty.
Can you help me claim grants or finance?
Yes. We’ll guide you through OZEV and available Home Energy Scotland or other relevant funding options. For Scottish heat pump funding, we can help prepare quotes and supporting documents, but the homeowner must submit the Home Energy Scotland application.
Are heat pumps worth it in Scotland?
Yes, in the right property. Modern heat pumps are designed to work efficiently in Scottish conditions, and running costs can be competitive or lower where the system is properly designed and the home is suitable. A heat-loss assessment and the heating system being replaced both make a big difference.
How much could I save with solar?
A typical 5 kW system in Scotland generates ~4,000 kWh/yr, potentially shaving £1,800–£2,100 off annual energy bills.
Does solar work in the Scottish climate?
Yes – PV relies on daylight, not heat. Scottish arrays reach ~85% of the UK average thanks to long summer daylight hours.
Can I add a battery later if I start with panels?
Definitely. Batteries can be retro‑fitted to any PV setup or even installed stand‑alone to use off‑peak tariffs.
Do I need three‑phase power for an EV charger?
Not unless you want 22 kW speeds. Most homes use a 7 kW single‑phase unit that we load‑balance for fuse protection.
Is there really 0% VAT on kit?
Solar and batteries installed together enjoy zero‑rate VAT. Stand‑alone batteries incur 20%, but still pay back over time.
What maintenance is needed?
Panels need the odd hose‑down; modern batteries and chargers mostly self-test and just need periodic health checks, while heat pumps benefit from regular servicing to keep them running efficiently.
