How it applies:
- Solar panels — 0% VAT on supply and installation
- Solar + battery together — 0% VAT on both when installed at the same time
- Standalone battery — currently attracts the standard 20% VAT rate when installed without solar panels
- Heat pumps — 0% VAT on supply and installation
- EV chargers — standard 20% VAT applies
The zero-rate VAT on energy-saving materials was introduced in April 2022 and is currently set to run until March 2027. This saves you a significant amount on the overall cost of a solar or heat pump installation.
