How to read these tables
Octopus splits each day into time bands. The cheap window is when you want to charge a battery or an EV; the peak window is when you want the battery doing the work and your solar exporting back.
- Flux import rewards solar + battery homes that can shift load — buy at ~15p, avoid paying ~35p.
- Flux export pays nearly 3× the standard rate between 16:00 and 19:00. This is where summer surplus pays for itself.
- Outgoing Octopus is the simple flat SEG rate. Pair it with Go if you have an EV but no battery.
- Go and Intelligent Go are the EV-focused import tariffs. Intelligent Go uses a longer cheap window and works with compatible chargers and EVs.
Is this the right region for me?
The UK is split into 14 distribution regions, and your prices depend on which one you're in. The rates above are for Southern Scotland — most of the Central Belt, covered by SP Energy Networks. If you're in the Highlands or Islands you're on the Northern Scotland network (SSEN) and your prices will be slightly different, so always confirm in the Octopus app before switching.
