Electric Heating FAQs
Common questions about upgrading from old storage heaters to modern electric radiators — removal, running costs, wiring, and brands.
Do you remove the old storage heaters?
Yes. This is a key part of our service. Old storage heaters are incredibly heavy (filled with clay bricks) and can be dangerous to move. We safely disconnect them, remove them from your property, and ensure they are disposed of responsibly.
Are modern electric radiators cheaper to run?
Modern direct-acting electric radiators are not inherently more efficient at turning electricity into heat, but their timers and room-by-room controls can reduce wasted heating. Whether they cost less than storage heaters depends on your tariff, insulation and heating pattern.
Do I need to rewire my house?
Usually not. In most cases, we can utilise the existing wiring from your old storage heaters (switching it from the off-peak circuit to the 24-hour circuit at the fuse board). Our electricians handle all of this.
Which brands do you install?
We install a range of high-quality brands including Dimplex, Fischer-style equivalents, and Haverland. We select the best radiator for your budget and room size.
