Yes, removing old storage heaters is a key part of our electric heating upgrade service.
Why removal matters:
Old storage heaters are extremely heavy — they are filled with clay bricks that store heat. A large unit can weigh 80–120 kg or more. They can be dangerous to move without proper equipment and handling.
What we do:
- Safe disconnection — we electrically disconnect the heaters safely, including any off-peak meter circuits
- Physical removal — our team removes the units from your property. We have the experience and equipment to handle their weight safely.
- Responsible disposal — old heaters are disposed of properly in accordance with waste regulations
- Wall repair — we leave the wall area clean and ready for your new radiators. Minor making good may be needed where the old units were mounted.
Electrical work:
When removing storage heaters, we typically switch the wiring from the off-peak (Economy 7/10) circuit to the standard 24-hour circuit at your consumer unit. This allows your new modern radiators to operate whenever you need them, not just during off-peak hours.
