Honest answer: not for standalone solar panels or batteries. Anyone advertising a “solar grant in Scotland” in 2026 should be able to name the scheme — and usually can't.
Home Energy Scotland (what changed):
HES withdrew grant and loan funding for standalone solar PV and battery storage on 6 June 2024, and that remains the position in 2026. HES funding now focuses on heat pumps (up to £7,500 grant, plus a £1,500 rural uplift) and insulation.
0% VAT until March 2027:
Solar panel installations qualify for 0% VAT, saving you 20% compared to the old rate — this applies to battery storage too, whether installed with the panels or on its own. It's already reflected in our quotes.
Smart Export Guarantee (SEG):
Once your system is installed and MCS-certificated, you can register for the SEG and get paid for surplus electricity you export to the grid. On the right tariff this is a meaningful income, not pocket change.
ECO4:
In limited cases — typically electrically heated homes where the household meets income or benefits criteria — solar PV can be funded through ECO4. We can point you in the right direction if you might qualify.
MCS certification matters:
SEG registration and any funding route require an MCS-certified installation. JME Green Energy is fully MCS certified, and we provide all the documentation you need.
